Two men face felony fentanyl possession charges after an I-25 traffic stop

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Following a cross-state investigation, two Wyoming men face felony drug charges after a traffic stop in Laramie County on August 14 resulted in the discovery of suspected fentanyl and other controlled substances.

According to a court affidavit, DEA investigators began watching a 1988 Ford truck after receiving a tip. They saw the truck, driven by Ethan John Zimmerman of Torrington and carrying Wayne Edgar Rosson of Laramie, traveling south on Interstate 25 from Laramie to Denver, Colorado.

Before following the vehicle back into Wyoming, the investigators observed actions that suggested a drug purchase.

A traffic violation on Interstate 25 near Exit 4 resulted in a stop by the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy and his K-9 partner arrived at the scene, and the dog detected the presence of drugs in the vehicle.

During the search, investigators discovered blue fentanyl pills and a white powder weighing approximately 34.6 grams in Zimmerman’s sock. They also found a small bag containing suspected fentanyl pills and a crystalline substance weighing 4.7 grams near where Rosson was seated.

Both men were transported to the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office.

Zimmerman has been charged with conspiracy to deliver fentanyl and possession of fentanyl in a felony amount, with a $7,500 bond.

Rosson is charged with conspiracy to deliver fentanyl and third- or subsequent-offense possession of a controlled substance, and his bond has been set at $3,000.

Both men are presumed innocent unless they plead or are found guilty.
