An Arizona man went missing in Utah nearly two years ago, and his car was recently discovered submerged in the water, with a body inside.
According to a joint statement issued on Wednesday, September 3, by Arizona’s Page Police Department and Utah’s Kane County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle was recovered from Lake Powell over the Labor Day weekend.
When police arrived, they were able to identify the vehicle, which according to records belongs to Dennis Keith Dillinger, a 54-year-old man who has been missing since December 2023.
According to police, Dillinger was last seen at a Family Dollar Tree in Kanab, Utah, on December 1, 2023.
His vehicle was discovered by a group of people visiting Lone Rock Beach in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, who reported it to authorities.
When authorities extracted the car from the water on September 3, they discovered human remains inside. The Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the remains and investigate the cause of death.
The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is handling the death investigation, which is still ongoing.
“Kane County offers their gratitude to the National Park Service rangers, support staff and dive team from Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, and the Page Arizona Police Department for the many hours of work on this case and assistance with recovery of the vehicle,” the detectives wrote.
