Ranchester woman charged with aggravated animal cruelty will have her trial date set

A trial date has been set for a Ranchester woman charged with animal cruelty. Ron Richter from Sheridan Media has the details.

Jeniffer Miller will face a three-day jury trial in Fourth Judicial District Court beginning January 12, 2026. Miller pleaded not guilty to two counts of felony aggravated animal cruelty during his recent District Court arraignment.

Miller was arrested for the alleged crimes on July 20, 2025. A pre-trial conference will be held in District Court on December 11 at 10 a.m.

According to court documents, the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible animal cruelty on July 19 from a residence on Soldier Creek Road in Sheridan County.

When the Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived, two dead dogs were discovered in a mud room in the back of Miller’s rented home.

The affidavit of probable cause states that the two dogs were locked in the mud room with no access to food or water, and that the temperature was not controlled. Each charge of felony animal cruelty is punishable by up to two years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to $5,000.
