On September 12, a former Wisconsin business owner was found guilty of 17 federal charges related to a healthcare fraud scheme that targeted pregnant women and young mothers.
According to Richard Frohling, the Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, Precious Cruse owned and operated a Prenatal Care Coordination Company called ‘Caring Through Love.’
Cruse was convicted for the following:
Healthcare Fraud
False Statements related to Healthcare Matters
Anti-Kickback Statute Violations
Aggravated Identity Theft
Money Laundering
According to the release, evidence presented during the trial revealed that Cruse exploited and took advantage of vulnerable pregnant women and young mothers by luring them into the company’s prenatal care program and offering free baby items.
The women who enrolled had to provide personal information, which Cruse’s company used to file Medicaid claims for unprovided services, with participants occasionally receiving diapers, baby wipes, or nothing at all.
Cruse also used fraud proceeds to pay for luxurious expenses, such as designer clothing, expensive travel, and a $18,000 custom diamond necklace and bracelet for her toddler.
Cruse’s sentencing date is January 20, 2026, and she faces a mandatory minimum for the aggravated identity theft charges, as well as a maximum of 20 years in prison for each healthcare fraud charge.
