Casper, Wyoming — A man was sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison last week after being caught with nine-tenths of a pound of methamphetamine in Natrona County last year.
On Thursday, May 29, 2025, Chief U.S. District Judge Scott W. Skavdahl sentenced John Fowler, 35, in Casper, according to a release from the United States Justice Department for the District of Wyoming.
According to the release, Wyoming law enforcement agencies received information on July 31, 2024, that Fowler was planning to travel to Wyoming from Texas with a large amount of drugs.
On August 1, a deputy with the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office pulled the vehicle over on Interstate 25 in Casper. A Casper Police Department K-9 responded and detected drugs.
The search turned up 404 grams of methamphetamine and approximately 48 grams of cocaine. Law enforcement discovered that Fowler had previously obtained additional methamphetamine in June 2024.
On March 11, 2025, Fowler pleaded guilty to:
- Conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine
- Conspiracy to distribute cocaine
- Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine
- Possession with intent to distribute cocaine
The NCSO report states that Allen Duane Baker and Berlynn Ditton were also in the vehicle with Fowler.
Baker received a six- to eight-year suspended sentence in state court, while Ditton pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor in circuit court and received a one-year suspended sentence plus time served.
