While the chance for showers and storms will diminish tonight, dry conditions will move in overnight. Expect overnight temperatures to drop into the mid to upper 60s by Friday morning.
On Friday, rain chances will be lower, with only isolated showers and storms developing in the afternoon and evening. However, storm activity is expected to become more widespread over the weekend, with a higher likelihood of severe storms.
Weekend Forecast: Severe Weather Risk
The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has issued a Slight Risk Outlook for the entire state of South Carolina, indicating that thunderstorms will develop during the afternoon hours. These storms are expected to grow in intensity as daytime heating occurs, with very humid air providing ample fuel for thunderstorms.
As the weekend progresses, conditions will be favorable for multiple rounds of thunderstorms. These storms may bring excess rainfall, leading to the risk of flooding, strong wind gusts up to 50 mph, and damaging winds exceeding 60 mph. There is also a small chance of isolated tornadoes.
In addition, the SPC has issued a Marginal Risk Outlook for Sunday, covering much of the state. This indicates that thunderstorms could produce 50 mph wind gusts and pea to marble-sized hail, which is below the severe weather warning criteria but could still cause minor damage.
