A WOMAN was shot dead by armed cops after allegedly attacking people with a knife in an Oktoberfest square.
The perpetrator, 30, allegedly stabbed a 56-year-old man before assaulting a 25-year-old woman in Munich’s Theresienwiese neighborhood.
Cops shot the woman, who is believed to be Bulgarian, with a service weapon on the corner of St Paul’s Square and Bavariang.
According to Bild, she died in the hospital following emergency surgery.
The area is currently closed off to the public, with armed cops and Munich’s Criminal Investigation Department on the scene.
Sniffer dogs are also searching for clues, and bandages have been seen on the ground at the Oktoberfest site.
The motive for the attack is unknown.
Bavaria’s Interior Minister, Joachim Herrman, told Bild: “I am extremely grateful to the Munich police for their prompt intervention and stopping the knife attacker.
“Her death is regrettable, but unfortunately, it was probably unavoidable.”
According to police, the victims sustained “minor injuries.”
Munich Police said in a statement: “On Saturday, June 7, 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m., the Munich police were notified that a woman had injured a person with a knife in the Theresienwiese area.
“According to current information, she injured a 56-year-old man with a knife on Westendstraße. Shortly after, she injured a 25-year-old woman with a knife near Schwanthaler Höhe.
“When officers encountered the perpetrator in the Bavariaring area of St Pauls-Platz and were about to arrest him, they used firearms.
“The woman was injured and later taken to the hospital. She died there shortly after. The woman was a 30 year-old Munich resident.
“The additional investigation was taken over on-site by Police Department 11.
“The Bavarian State Criminal Police Office is investigating the police use of firearms.
“Further verified information cannot be provided at this time, as the necessary investigations are currently underway by the Criminal Investigation Department.”
Just a few hours before, at least five people were injured when a car crashed into a crowd in Germany.
A five-year-old girl is believed to be among those injured in the horrific crash in Passau.
The driver’s wife, 38, was also injured, according to Bild.
According to reports, it is unclear whether the driver intended to drive into the crowd.
A police spokesperson confirmed that three people were seriously injured.
The incident occurred around 3.30 p.m. near the Bavarian city’s main train station.
“At this time, it cannot be ruled out that the man deliberately drove the vehicle into the group of people,” the police reported to the local press.
The driver was identified as a 48-year-old man.
He has been detained, according to local media.
