NOAA Weather Radio Transmitters Will Be Affected in Central Texas
All weather radio transmitters operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will be off the air in Central Texas at the start of this week due to a scheduled software update.
Impact and Alternatives
While severe weather is not currently expected in the region, scattered thunderstorms are possible late Tuesday and Wednesday, so it is critical to have multiple warning systems.
Several transmitters will be affected this week, including those in Austin, Carrizo Springs, Del Rio, Dilley, D’Hanis, Gonzales, Kerrville, La Grange, Llano, San Antonio, Seguin, and Uvalde.
Return to Normal
The NOAA Weather Radio transmitters are expected to resume normal operations by Thursday.
