CINCINNATI — The mother of a child shot last month is now charged with child endangerment. She was arraigned on Thursday.

According to court records, Teasia Leonard posed a significant risk to her two-year-old’s safety.

The child was shot shortly afterward. The assistant prosecutor claimed he shot himself.

Leonard’s attorney stated that she does not own a gun, but she recently began dating someone who brought a friend to her home. She had no idea there was a gun in the house.

Job and Family Services is involved, and the toddler is with his grandmother.

The judge set the bond at $1,000. Leonard is not permitted to see her son unless allowed by JFS. She must not possess any firearms.

Carmelo Anderson is also charged in connection with the shooting. He’s accused of giving the gun to someone and instructing them to dispose of it after the shooting.

He remains in jail on a $10,000 bond on tampering with evidence and child endangering charges.
