CORCORAN, Calif. — Nearly a decade after an unidentified woman’s body was found in a remote area of Kings County, the Kings County Sheriff’s Office is once again asking for the public’s help to uncover her identity.
Her remains were discovered on May 13, 2015, wrapped in a tarp and left in a rural farming area near 6th Avenue and Virginia Avenue, just south of Corcoran, California.
Investigators believe the woman was Hispanic or Latina, between 60 and 80 years old, around 5 feet to 5 feet 6 inches tall, and weighed between 100 and 130 pounds. She had brown eyes, black and gray hair, and may have had a hunched posture.
When found, she was wearing a red and white striped T-shirt, loose-fitting black yoga pants, and an adult diaper. Although she had been fitted for dentures—both upper and lower—none were located at the scene.
To aid in the investigation, forensic artists created two facial reconstructions: one showing her with dentures and the other without. Despite years of searching and public appeals, her identity remains a mystery.
However, the case is still active. According to the Sheriff’s Office, recent developments in DNA and forensic science have led to new clues that could help solve the case.
Anyone who may recognize the woman or has any information about her or the circumstances of her death is encouraged to contact the Kings County Sheriff’s Office. Call the Detective Tip Hotline at (559) 852-4554 or email [email protected].
