SAN ANTONIO – A woman was arrested after a 15-year-old boy fell out of the pickup truck she was driving and died of his injuries, according to an arrest affidavit.

According to records, Yvonne Haygood, 28, is facing a charge of collision involving death. She was booked into Bexar County Adult Detention Center on Friday.

The victim was identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office as Deon Joseph. The office reported that he died as a result of cranial and cerebral injuries.

The incident occurred around 5:10 p.m. on May 25 at the Wheatley Heights Sports Complex, which is located within Martin Luther King Park on the East Side.

According to the affidavit, a woman called 911 and reported that a boy had flown out of a truck while they were doing donuts in the complex’s parking lot.

According to the affidavit, firefighters arrived to find Joseph bleeding from both ears and with a crushed chest.

Joseph was rushed to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead.

According to the affidavit, Haygood fled the scene before the San Antonio police arrived. She allegedly told firefighters that “they were not cops, and they could not hold her there.”

According to the affidavit, authorities interviewed three teenagers who claimed Joseph had forgotten his phone at the complex and asked Haygood for a ride from their apartments on Noblewood Drive.

Haygood was eventually identified and arrested after a thorough investigation. According to records, she initially refused to speak with authorities but eventually revealed the location of the truck.

Officers discovered blood in the truck’s bed and backseat, according to the affidavit.

A judge set a bond of $75,000 for Haygood, according to Bexar County court records.
