Late-Night Stabbing at Iconic California Beach Leaves Two Men Injured After Confrontation with Woman

SAN DIEGO, CA — Authorities have arrested a suspect connected to the stabbing of two men in San Diego’s Ocean Beach neighborhood last month, the San Diego Police Department reported. The violent attack took place shortly after 1 a.m. on April 13, 2025, near Bacon Street and Newport Avenue, a popular spot in the community.

Officers from the Western Division arrived on the scene after a report came in, finding two men suffering from multiple stab wounds, police said.

Both victims were quickly taken to a nearby hospital. The first, a 36-year-old White male, survived despite his injuries. The second, a 29-year-old White male, also recovered after treatment.

Police say the suspect and the victims were strangers. However, one of the men had been involved in a separate argument earlier, which may have triggered the attack, investigators explained.

Thanks to tips from the community and a thorough investigation, detectives identified 29-year-old Jana Nicole Halaska of San Diego as the main suspect.

On April 29, 2025, at around 4:30 p.m., Halaska was arrested in the 400 block of Robinson Avenue in the Hillcrest area.

She now faces charges including Attempted Murder, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, police confirmed.
