St. Anthony, MN – A 3-year-old boy is recovering after accidentally shooting himself in the head inside a vehicle Thursday evening.
Police were first called around 6:40 p.m. to an apartment complex in response to a report that someone there needed medical help. However, officers didn’t find anything when they arrived. About 30 minutes later, the young boy was brought to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.
According to police, the child found a loaded gun inside a vehicle, and the firearm accidentally discharged. Two adults at the scene told officers the shooting was unintentional.
The boy is currently in stable condition. While no arrests have been made so far, authorities say criminal charges are still a possibility. The investigation remains ongoing.
