Two Gillette men were killed Wednesday when a work truck collided head-on with their motorcycles on the highway between Wright and Newcastle, according to authorities.
Ricky Lynch, 74, and Steve Layman, 68, were riding motorcycles eastbound at 5332 Highway 450, which runs east of Wright, at around 8 a.m., according to Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. Jason Roascio.
A 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 heading west crossed into the motorcycles’ lane and collided with both, killing the riders, according to the sergeant.
Campbell County Coroner Paul Wallem confirmed that the pickup was a work truck.
According to Roascio, driver fatigue is being investigated as the primary cause of the crash, and charges will be filed once the investigation is completed.
He stated that a crash reconstruction team is currently processing the scene.
The motorcycles were a 2007 Honda Goldwing and a 2009 BMW.
Roascio reported that the weather was clear and the road was dry.
Wallem confirmed that both men died at the scene.
