DENVER, Colo. – The second night of bull riding action at the National Western Stock Show in the Denver Coliseum saw riders getting big scores or dusting off their disappointment as they left the arena. The second performance of the Professional Bull Riders-sanctioned competition featured over 40 riders, each battling for a coveted spot in the championship round and a chance to earn crucial points in the early-season standings.
From the moment the chute gates opened, the energy in the coliseum was electric. Fans cheered as seasoned veterans and rising rookies alike took on some of the toughest bulls in the circuit. Among the top performers was Texas native Cody Reynolds, who electrified the crowd with a textbook-perfect ride on “Twister,” scoring an impressive 89.5 points—the highest score of the night.
Hot on Reynolds’ heels was Brazilian rider Lucas Pereira, who stayed centered and calm aboard “Midnight Storm” for a solid 87-point ride. Pereira, who has been gaining momentum this season, is quickly becoming a fan favorite with his consistent style and charisma in the arena.
Not everyone had reason to celebrate, however. Several riders found themselves airborne within seconds of their ride, victims of the unpredictable power and agility of bulls like “Outlaw Thunder” and “Voodoo Child,” both of whom remained unridden by night’s end.
For the fans, the mix of high scores, hard landings, and sheer grit provided non-stop entertainment. With two more nights of competition remaining, riders will have to dig deep, as only the top scorers will make it to the final round this weekend.
The National Western Stock Show continues to draw thousands each night, not only for its thrilling rodeo events but also as a celebration of Western heritage, complete with livestock shows, exhibitions, and vendors showcasing everything from cowboy boots to farm equipment.
Tickets for the remaining bull riding events are still available, with organizers promising even more high-stakes action and unforgettable moments before the final buzzer sounds.
