New Jersey Man Arrested for Stabbing Outside Waffle House in Pennsylvania
A 36-year-old man from Phillipsburg, New Jersey, is facing serious charges after allegedly stabbing a 22-year-old man during a fight outside a Waffle House in Hanover Township.
According to Pennsylvania State Police Troop M in Bethlehem, the incident happened around 5:14 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, in the parking lot of the Waffle House located at 1783 Airport Road.
The altercation reportedly started inside the restaurant between the 22-year-old victim from Allentown and a 34-year-old woman from Newark, New Jersey. The argument escalated and continued outside, where it turned violent.
During the fight, the suspect pulled up in a blue 2018 Jeep Compass with New Jersey plates. He got out, stabbed the 22-year-old in the upper left chest with a knife, and quickly drove off, authorities said.
The victim was taken by private vehicle to Lehigh Valley Hospital–Muhlenberg. Thankfully, he is expected to recover.
Two days later, on Monday, May 19, Palmer Township Police spotted the suspect’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The Phillipsburg man was behind the wheel. After being interviewed by state police at the Bethlehem barracks, he was taken into custody.
He now faces several charges, including:
- Aggravated Assault – Serious Bodily Injury (Felony)
- Aggravated Assault – With a Deadly Weapon (Felony)
- Possession of an Instrument of Crime (Misdemeanor)
- Simple Assault (Misdemeanor)
- Harassment (Summary Offense)
He was booked into Lehigh County Central Booking on $75,000 bail, which he could not post. A preliminary hearing is scheduled in District Court 31-1-05.
The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities have not yet released the names of those involved.
