Wyoming Connection: California Cop Recovers Stolen $7,000 Custom Bike Linked to Accused Parolee

Santa Clara, CA — A rare $7,000 e-bike stolen from the Bay Area was recovered by a quick-thinking Santa Clara police officer, thanks to a regional alert system and sharp teamwork.

On May 6, the Santa Clara Police Department received a TRAK flyer from another Bay Area law enforcement agency. The alert detailed the theft of a high-end Specialized Porto e-bike — a unique model valued at $7,000 and described as “one of a few in the United States.”

The TRAK System, which allows agencies to share real-time alerts and clear images, played a key role in spreading the information quickly among police departments across the region.

Just days later, while on patrol, a Santa Clara officer spotted someone riding an e-bike that looked exactly like the one described in the flyer. The officer pulled the rider over, confirmed the bike was the stolen model, and took the suspect into custody.

Police say the individual was already on parole and is now facing additional charges for possessing a stolen vehicle and violating parole terms.

Santa Clara police credited the TRAK System and strong inter-agency communication for helping bring the rare bike back to its rightful owner.
