In July 2025, millions of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries across the United States received their monthly payments on Tuesday, July 1. This deposit was issued according to the Social Security Administration (SSA) schedule, with no delays due to weekends or federal holidays. The amount you receive depends on your individual status and living situation.
Maximum SSI Federal Amounts for 2025
For 2025, the maximum federal amounts for SSI are:
$967 for individual beneficiaries
$1,450 for married couples qualifying jointly
$484 for “essential persons,” those who live with SSI beneficiaries and provide essential care
This payment only covers the July 2025 benefit.
The Next SSI Deposit
The next SSI payment is scheduled for August 2025, and it will follow the same standard schedule: payments are issued on the first business day of the month. If the 1st of the month falls on a weekend or holiday, payments are made on the last business day of the previous month.
Unlike other SSA-administered benefits such as Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or retirement benefits, which follow a different payment schedule based on the beneficiary’s date of birth, SSI payments are much simpler and are paid in a consistent monthly cycle.
Double SSI Payments in 2025
A recurring event for SSI recipients happens when the 1st of the month falls on a non-business day, such as a weekend or holiday, causing the payment to be advanced to the prior month. This happened in May 2025, resulting in two deposits: one on May 1 for May’s payment, and another on May 30 for June’s payment (since June 1 fell on a Sunday).
A similar situation will occur in September and November 2025. For example, November’s payment will be issued on Friday, October 31, because November 1 falls on a Saturday. Additionally, December’s payment will be advanced to Friday, November 28, since December 1 is a Monday.
These adjustments will create the appearance of “non-payment” periods in the affected months. However, the total annual payment amount remains unchanged. You’ll also receive a “second” deposit on December 31, which will correspond to the January 2026 payment.
What to Do If Your SSI Payment Didn’t Arrive on Time
If your scheduled SSI payment doesn’t show up in your bank account or on your Direct Express card by the expected date, the SSA recommends waiting three full business days before taking any further action. During this time, check with your financial institution or card issuer to rule out any routine processing delays.
If your payment still hasn’t arrived after this waiting period, you should:
Contact the SSA directly at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY: 1-800-325-0778)
Visit your local Social Security office
Use the my Social Security online portal at ssa.gov/myaccount to report the issue and request a trace
It’s important to note that you should never provide personal information to unsolicited callers who claim they can help with payment delays. Be cautious of scammers trying to take advantage of your situation.
