PORTLAND, Ore. — The man arrested following a serious assault at a TriMet MAX station stop has a lengthy history with police and the Oregon mental health system.

Jordan Christ’s criminal history shows that he has been arrested several times since 2015, but has only been convicted of two criminal offenses.

It also depicts someone who has not received the necessary support from an overburdened and broken mental health system.

Both convictions occurred in Clackamas County in 2016 for DUII and meth possession, which also marked his first arrest. According to court records, he was sentenced to 20 days in jail, two years probation, and a one-year license suspension.

Since his arrest, he has been arrested or cited 23 times.

In 2017, he was arrested after attempting to break into a Gresham home. The homeowner told police that Christ was waiting for him at home, offering him a shot and cigarettes.

According to court documents, the homeowner refused Christ’s request and ran inside, prompting Christ to pound on the front door and kick it in.

He fought with officers who arrived to arrest him. He was charged with multiple counts of assault, resisting arrest, criminal trespassing, and criminal mischief.

However, the case was dismissed a year later because the judge deemed him unfit to stand trial.

He was charged in 2020 with driving with a suspended license and refusing to take a DUII test. He received a fine, and the case was closed.

He was cited in 2020 for another DUII, but the charge was either dropped or never prosecuted.

In 2021, he was arrested for fourth-degree assault and interfering with public transportation, but the charges were dismissed. According to court records, the victim declined to participate in the trial, making the case difficult to prove.

In 2022, he was arrested along with his brother after prosecutors claimed they attempted to steal wine and other items from a Safeway on Northeast Broadway.

He was charged with robbery after surveillance footage revealed that the brothers became physically aggressive when loss prevention officers attempted to prevent them from leaving the store.

Again, the case was dismissed due to concerns that he was unfit to stand trial, and there was no room at Oregon State Hospital. His attorneys stated that they were unable to find any temporary housing for him until he was deemed fit.

According to court records, he had three different warrants out for his arrest dating back to 2024 and 2025 for failure to appear in court.

Records also show that he has been a transient with no fixed address for several years.

Christ remains at the Multnomah County Jail following Thursday’s assault.
