Police are looking into Sunday's shooting incident in South Casper

CASPER, Wyo. — Authorities are describing the shooting incident in south Casper on Sunday afternoon as an altercation between two groups of people who know each other.

“During the incident, one group fired several rounds at the other, who were inside a moving vehicle,” Casper Police Department Public Information Officer Rebekah Ladd told Oil City News Monday.

The people involved are mostly juveniles. Ladd stated that due to their ages and the ongoing, active investigation, there is currently limited information available.

There have been no reported injuries, but a nearby resident later reported property damage caused by a bullet that struck their apartment while they were inside.

According to Ladd, officers responded to the 2500 block of South Jefferson Street around 12:50 p.m. on July 20 after receiving a report of suspicious individuals with firearms in the area. The gunshots were reported as police were on their way.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Casper Police Department at 307-235-8278.
