F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. – The 90th Missile Wing has identified the Airman who died in an on-duty incident at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, on July 20, 2025, around 1:30 a.m.

Airman Brayden Lovan, 21, is a defender with the 90th Security Forces Squadron, 90th Security Forces Group.

“Our hearts are heavy with the loss of Airman Lovan,” said Colonel Jeremy Sheppard, commander of the 90th Security Forces Group. “We mourn the loss of an important defender, teammate, and friend.

Our priority remains to support the family and team during this extremely difficult time. In times like these, we are reminded of the strength of our military community and the community we live in, as they come together to mourn, honor, and care for one another.”

Lovan entered active duty on November 6, 2023, and his first assignment was at F.E. Warren Air Force Base. He has been assigned to the 90th Security Forces Squadron since May 8, 2024.

The incident involved a firearm discharge, and it is currently being investigated by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), the Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) Safety Office, the Air Force Security Forces Center, and Headquarters Air Force Security Forces.

Furthermore, Security Forces Combat Arms Airmen at all AFGSC bases will conduct a complete inspection of the M18 handguns to identify any immediate safety concerns. At this time, no decision has been made on the nature of the discharge.

To protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation, no additional information will be released at this time.
