CalFresh, also known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), provides monthly food benefits to low-income individuals and families in California.
SNAP is also the state’s largest food program, providing critical support to thousands of families who rely on it to feed their children nutritious meals.
CalFresh, which is administered locally by counties and overseen by the state, allows recipients to use an EBT card to buy food at grocery stores and farmers’ markets that accept it.
In addition to food benefits, those who receive cash assistance through CalWORKs will have that amount deposited on their EBT card within the first three days of the month.
