An Oklahoma man allegedly opened fire on the husband of a woman he has been dating, later telling cops that he drew a gun and shot the man twice during a parking lot confrontation last week because he couldn’t “outfight” him, police say.
“I couldn’t do anything unless I shot him,” Micah Hill, 21, allegedly told investigators following the shooting Tuesday in Edmond, according to his probable cause affidavit, obtained by local ABC affiliate KOCO.
Hill told cops that he was with his girlfriend at a local plasma donation center, Biomat USA Plasma Center, when the husband confronted him in the parking lot while the woman was inside, according to the affidavit.
He claimed the husband had “previously spit in his face” and “threatened him,” according to cops, and that he was acting hostile toward Hill outside the plasma center.
Hill allegedly told police that he “felt scared sitting inside the car” and decided to leave with a pistol. He admitted to shooting the victim twice, claiming the shots were fired after the husband began to “pretty much lunge” at him, according to KOCO.
According to the affidavit, a 911 caller inside the plasma center described seeing Hill and what allegedly happened after the shooting.
“A man came in and yelled, ‘Help, help, I need help.'” He shot me. “He shot me,” the caller explained.
Another customer, Jacob McDonald, told the local NBC affiliate KFOR that the victim “collapsed and doubled over” after stumbling inside. “That’s when we saw he had a gunshot wound in his back,” McDonald said. “Then the shooter came after him and explained to us that this man had approached him.”
Hill was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. He allegedly claimed self-defense.
