Wyoming Man Arrested After Workplace Dispute Escalates to Violent Assault

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A workplace dispute turned violent Monday on Madison Street, leading to the arrest of a Wilkes-Barre man, according to local police.

Officers with the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department responded to a fight reported at a residence, where they met a 29-year-old victim from nearby Hanover Township. The victim told police that a verbal argument with 36-year-old Gerome Brooks quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.

The dispute, which originated from an incident at their workplace, resulted in Brooks pointing a firearm at the victim and striking him in the face with a closed fist.

Brooks was promptly taken into custody and now faces several charges, including simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment, and public drunkenness.

Bail was set at $5,000, but Brooks was unable to post it and remains in Luzerne County Prison.

While this incident occurred in Pennsylvania, its ripples have been noted by communities in nearby Wyoming, as workplace violence continues to be a concern across the region.
