Cambridge — A 15-year-old has been arrested and charged with murder following a fatal shooting in Cambridge on Sunday.

Jakai Wilson was arrested on Tuesday and charged as an adult with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and other firearm and armed robbery charges, according to a press release from the Cambridge Police Department.

Detectives identified Wilson as a suspect in the shooting death of Alyson Elien, 23, of Seaford, Delaware. Police used video surveillance to identify Wilson, according to a previous press release.

Officers responded to the 900 block of Camelia Street shortly after 8:30 p.m. Sunday, where they discovered Elien lying outside a vehicle in a driveway with a gunshot wound to his head.

Police attempted life-saving measures, but when Elien arrived at the hospital, he was pronounced dead.

Detectives discovered a handgun at the scene, which police say was reported stolen to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office last week.

The fatal shooting on Sunday marked Cambridge’s first homicide this year.

Wilson was turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections and is currently being held without bond, according to police.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing, with arrests and charges pending for other people involved.

Cambridge police previously stated that video footage from the shooting shows a “large number of community members” surrounding the victim but not providing assistance to him.

According to police, video footage shows people taking items from the victim’s vehicle and “apparently taking items off of the victim as he lay there with nobody attempting to help.”

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Cambridge Police Department at 410-228-3333.
