A 16-year-old stabbed his father to death before leading police on a chase in his stolen pickup truck: Police

A Texas teenager is the primary suspect in the brutal murder of his own father, who was discovered dead in his home earlier this week.

The Pearland Police Department said in a Facebook post on Tuesday that officers arrived at the home of 43-year-old Willie Washington around 6:30 a.m. “in reference to a death investigation.” When officers arrived, they discovered Washington with “multiple stab wounds” and pronounced him dead on the scene.

Washington’s pickup truck was missing from the home, so police set out to find it. When officers finally found it after a chase through Houston, they identified the driver as Washington’s 16-year-old son.

Pearland Police said they were able to locate Washington’s truck using their license plate reader system. After locating the truck, police attempted a traffic stop. Instead of stopping, the driver allegedly fled, prompting officers to pursue the vehicle and driver.

The truck can be seen in the top, right corner of a surveillance video obtained by local CBS affiliate KHOU. The video shows the truck spinning out onto a grassy area before coming to a stop.

At that point, the teenage suspect dashed out of the car. Officers quickly apprehended him and placed him in custody. Police have not publicly identified the suspect.

While police did not provide specifics, they stated in a Facebook post that they had evidence supporting probable cause to charge the teenager with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member. He is being held at the Brazoria County Juvenile Detention Center.

According to KHOU, another relative of Washington found him dead in his home on Tuesday. Chad Rogers, Pearland Police Public Information Officer, told reporters that the investigation into the death is still ongoing.
