A 16-year-old girl was stabbed to death during an apparent dispute at a Bronx deli Tuesday afternoon, and her killer is still on the loose, according to police.
Aliyah Williams was found with multiple stab wounds to her face, chest, and body when police arrived at the Deli Grocery on Boston Road in Williamsbridge shortly before 4 p.m., according to an NYPD spokesperson.
She was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center in critical condition but was later declared dead.
Rose Anderson, the teen’s distraught grandmother, was at work when she learned that an argument broke out at the store just before the alleged assailant’s knife fatally pierced her granddaughter’s heart.
Just hours earlier, the relatives had exchanged text messages.
“I never expected this to really happen to her because she’s not a bad kid,” the somber grandmother said at the grisly scene, describing Williams as a people person with good manners who went to school and always listened to her parents.
“She is sorely missed by everyone. I’m sorry she had to go this way, and I hope they find the killer.”
Police said no arrests had been made, and that the female suspect fled the scene wearing all black, white sneakers, and a red or pink headpiece.
The stabbing rattled residents in the usually quiet neighborhood, where the teen lived just two blocks from the violent scene.
“I’ve lived on this block for a year, and nothing like this has ever occurred. “It’s quiet,” said neighbor Guy Smith, who lives across the street from the grieving family.
“It’s very sad. I get very emotional about these things because she is only sixteen. I’m weak; I’m going to cry and tear up, hoping for the best and paying my respects to the family.
Another resident was left desperate for answers because the cause of the dispute was unknown.
“For this to happen, it’s sad and not a good look,” Brian Jenkins said.
“The crazy part is that we have no answers. We’re not sure what happened. We don’t know why it happened, who did it, or what was the cause. “It’s sad.”
Police said the incident is still under investigation.
