New York City Police are looking for a two-year-old Bronx boy who was last seen in early May.

Montrell Williams’ 20-year-old father is suspected of throwing him into the Bronx River, according to ABC7, Fox 5, and NBC4.

ABC7 reported that police divers were searching the Bronx River under the Bruckner Expressway.

According to police, the boy went missing on May 10 around 10 p.m.

Montrell, dressed in a white T-shirt and diaper, was last seen leaving a family celebration with his father, according to sources, per NBC 4. The boy’s mother allegedly contacted police that same night, according to NBC sources.

A source told Fox 5 that Montrell’s mother filed a custodial interference report on May 30. FOX5 reported that the parents had split custody.

According to sources at NBC 4 and the New York Daily News, Montrell’s father pulled out a knife when the boy’s mother inquired about his whereabouts on Saturday, June 7.

NBC4 reported that the mother then contacted police.

A police source told PEOPLE that the boy’s father appeared in Bronx Family Court on Monday, June 9. According to the source, the father refused to tell authorities what happened to the boy and was then remanded into custody.
