A massive fire broke out at a baseball stadium, causing extensive damage.

The fire occurred at Avista Stadium, a ballpark in Spokane, Washington.

The Spokane Valley Fire Department responded to the fire in the early hours of Friday morning.

They posted photos of massive flames and thick smoke rising from the stadium.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

A statement from the fire department read, “At approximately 2:55 a.m. on Friday, September 5, Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) and City of Spokane Fire Department crews responded to reports of smoke and flames coming from a building in the 600 block of N. Havana Street.

“Arriving units discovered a fire burning through the roof of a concessions building at Avista Stadium and quickly escalated the call to a working fire.

“Firefighters carried out an aggressive interior attack.

“However, access issues and a partial collapse of the metal roof forced crews to withdraw and shift to a defensive posture.

“Due to quick action, the fire was contained to the concessions stand and prevented from spreading to nearby structures.

“The building, however, suffered significant damage.

“There were no injuries reported.

“SVFD investigators are on the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.

“Crews are expected to remain on site through the morning as the scene remains active.”

The ballpark opened 67 years ago, in 1958.

Since then, it has served as the Spokane Indians’ home.

The Spokane RiverHawks and Gonzaga Bulldogs have both played at the stadium.

It can accommodate the High-A Northwest League team with a capacity of 6,803.

The Spokane Indians issued a statement about the fire, confirming the damage.

It stated, “The main concession stand at Avista Stadium caught fire in the early morning hours of Friday, September 5th.

“There were no injuries, and the fire was contained to the main concession stand.

“Many thanks to the City of Spokane Valley and City of Spokane firefighters, who have been on the scene since early this morning.

“We will have more information as it becomes available.”
