At least ten people have been injured after a car collided with a crowd in Los Angeles.
On Saturday, June 14, around 10:30 p.m. local time, a car traveling westbound on Century Boulevard in Inglewood drove up onto the curb and collided with a group of ten people near the Intuit Dome, according to NBC Los Angeles and ABC7.
According to Inglewood Mayor James Butts Jr., the group was leaving the CONCACAF Gold Cup soccer match at SoFi Stadium when the incident occurred.
Two victims, including a 14-year-old, are reportedly in critical condition. At least eight other victims were hospitalized with injuries of varying severities, per NBC Los Angeles.
Mayor James Butts Jr. said that the driver allegedly claimed that “he fell asleep behind the wheel,” the outlet reported.
The incident also resulted in the driver being hospitalized. Currently, the suspect has not been identified.
ABC7 obtained footage showing police cars parked along Century Boulevard as officers responded to the scene. As crowds gather on the sidewalk, police tape is used to section off the debris from the suspected vehicle involved in the crash.
