A Casper man accused of felony DUI allegedly exceeded the legal limit by nearly four times

CASPER, Wyo. — A 38-year-old Casper mechanic is facing a felony DUI charge, with prosecutors alleging that this is his fifth DUI in ten years. A fourth DUI in ten years carries a seven-year felony sentence in Wyoming.

Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper Teshaylo Trujillo stated in a probable cause affidavit that on Sunday, July 13, a motorist on Interstate 25 reported erratic driving from a tan Toyota east of Casper.

Trooper Trujillo located the vehicle and noticed it drifting across the lane lines. The trooper activated the brake lights to bring the vehicle to a stop.

The vehicle reportedly took an exit within city limits and came to a red light, at which point the driver gave the trooper a thumbs up and continued driving, according to the affidavit.

The trooper pursued the vehicle until it came to a halt near the driver’s home on Minnesota Avenue.

The driver reportedly ignored the trooper’s instructions to roll down the window and began stepping out of the car despite being told to stay seated. The trooper smelled an alcoholic beverage and found an empty beer can behind the driver’s seat.

The man underwent standardized field sobriety tests. He allegedly demonstrated six out of six possible indicators on the horizontal gaze tracking test, six out of eight clues on the walk-and-turn test, and three out of four clues on the one-leg-stand test.

The driver, Casper resident Danny Edward Bouissey, reportedly blew.270% on the blood-alcohol breath test at 6:33 p.m., nearly an hour after the REDDI report aired. The legal limit is 0.08%.

Bouissey reportedly told the trooper that he had four beers around noon while playing golf.

At Bouissey’s initial appearance on Monday, Assistant District Attorney Jared Holbrook stated that Bouissey had recently been placed on unsupervised probation following a previous fourth-in-10-years DUI conviction.

Unless proven guilty or has pleaded guilty, Bouissey is presumed innocent.
