A Cheyenne man was acquitted of fatal stabbing

Cheyenne, Wyo. – A Cheyenne man has been found not guilty of all charges stemming from a fatal stabbing last winter.

Last December, police arrested Joseph Gish after he fought with Gregory Meyer, his estranged wife’s boyfriend.

According to our partners at the Wyoming Tribune Eagle, during the fight, Gish pulled out a knife, claiming he intended to use it to deter Meyer, but instead stabbed him twice in the chest. Meyer later died from his injuries.

“We don’t know what Greg Meyer was thinking,” Laramie County Assistant District Attorney Steven McManamen stated. “We do not understand his version of events. We had a two-on-one in the hallway, and now we have a two-on-nobody situation in court.”

Gish faced charges of voluntary manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter, and criminally negligent homicide. Gish, on the other hand, claims he was acting in defense of himself and his daughter after attempting and failing to persuade Meyer to leave his home.

Meyer’s autopsy revealed that he had meth in his system at the time.
