A 31-year-old Cheyenne woman is facing felony charges for allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman.
According to a booking sheet, Lilyanna B. Knudson was arrested at 8:40 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, at a home in the 4000 block of Carey Avenue.
According to police, alcohol was involved in the incident, and Knudson’s blood alcohol content ranged between 0.15 and 0.20.
Knudson was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center and charged with aggravated assault and battery – intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly injuring a pregnant woman, a felony punishable by up to ten years in prison.
Initial Court Appearance
On Tuesday, July 22, Knudson appeared in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge Thomas Lee on the charge.
Lee appointed Knudson as a public defender and inquired whether the state objected to a 10% of $10,000 bond.
“That would be sufficient,” the state stated. “The state certainly has concerns for the safety of the victim in this matter and concerns for Ms. Knudson’s willingness to comply with this court’s orders considering the significant underlying penalty and believes that a $10,000 at 10% cash bond would ensure her compliance as well as the safety of the victim.”
“The state would ask for no contact in this matter (and) also request alcohol testing,” said the agency.
Free on Bond
Knudson was released from jail after posting a $1,000 cash bail.
Her next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Monday, July 28, at 9:30 a.m.
Please remember that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
