An Arizona man was sentenced to life in prison on Monday for killing three people in a Phoenix apartment that was set on fire.

Chase Scott Christman, 31, of Mesa, previously pleaded guilty to murder and robbery charges in the July 2024 deaths of Merissa Honeycutt, 27, Anthony Frederickson Ceccarelli, 25, and Samuel Lott, 37.

Prosecutors say Christman went to an apartment in Phoenix’s Ahwatukee neighborhood to steal drugs and money.

R.J. Parker, an attorney for Christman, did not return a phone call from The Associated Press.

The bodies were discovered by firefighters responding to a fire at the apartment. According to authorities, the fire did not cause significant damage to the bodies or the apartment.

Neighbors informed investigators that they heard screaming coming from the apartment. According to police, one victim was fatally stabbed, another was shot to death, and another was shot and stabbed.

Authorities believe the victims fought back during the violent attacks, and Christman had cuts on his hands when he was arrested. According to prosecutors, the blood found in the apartment matched Christman’s DNA.
