A New Initiative to Assist Veterans Traveling to Casper

If you have not served in the military, you will never fully comprehend what a veteran goes through. Many of the men and women who have vowed to defend our country have witnessed and lived through events that many people cannot imagine.

Many veterans continue to serve after they are discharged. They fight the battle every day.

Wyoming has the veterans’ backs when it comes to finding a place to live after their military service is completed. There are numerous veteran opportunities available in Wyoming, whether they require assistance, want to go hunting, or want to be a part of a group of like-minded veterans.

Caleb Lindsay and I have collaborated on projects such as Casper College’s Veterans Services and The Veterans Ball in recent years, and he is currently working on a new project that will have an impact on Casper’s veteran population and the battle against mental health issues.

The Eyes of Freedom rolling memorial made its second stop in Casper in 2022, and it had an impact on Caleb. Anita Miller’s life-size bronze sculpture “The Silent Battle,” depicting a warrior holding his fallen friend’s dog tag, is part of the memorial.

The veteran in the piece is dealing with invisible service wounds, PTSD, trauma, and unresolved thoughts. These invisible wounds affect a large number of our warriors, with over 6,000 veterans suicide each year.

The Silent Battle‘ speaks for those who can’t.

Caleb, as a veteran, was all too aware of how the struggle affected veterans. He decided Casper would be an excellent location for ‘The Silent Battle,’ and embarked on a mission to bring a replica of the statue here.

Caleb’s desire to start the process has grown, and the tribute is now on its way to becoming a reality, providing veterans with a place to visit and begin their healing. As the process progresses, The Silent Battle Casper Committee has established a Facebook page with project information and is planning a fundraising campaign.

If you want to be a part of this special campaign, please contact the Casper Committee through their Facebook page and prepare to see this mission come to fruition.

I sat down with Caleb to discuss the project details. You can listen below.
