RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Spearfish man was sentenced Tuesday for distributing fentanyl, which caused the death of another man in June of last year.
Dan Snyder, 41, pleaded guilty last month to distribution of a controlled substance that resulted in death and controlled substance ingestion.
According to court documents, a witness stated that last June in Lawrence County, Snyder brought heroin laced with fentanyl to kill himself and gave it to the victim.
Snyder is sentenced to 12 years in state prison for distributing a controlled substance that caused death.
He was also sentenced to two years in state prison for unauthorized use of a controlled substance, seven years for aggravated assault, and two years for simple assault on a public officer.
During the sentencing, Snyder stated that he felt terrible and wished he had died that day rather than the victim.
