A warrant has been issued for a Casper man in relation to an incident involving road rage

On June 26, a circuit court judge issued a warrant for a Casper man who authorities say was involved in a road rage incident in which he chased another car through traffic, hit it, and fled the scene while driving at speeds exceeding 80 mph.

Ethan Bergeaux, 20, faces one count of reckless driving and one count of hit-and-run after another driver reported to police that Bergeaux had thrown something into his car while the two were speeding down Wyoming Boulevard, according to an affidavit filed with the warrant in circuit court.

The caller informed authorities that Bergeaux had thrown something at his vehicle while their trucks were driving side by side near Casper Mountain Road.

According to the affidavit, the pair pulled over on the shoulder and shouted at each other before returning to their cars.

Bergeaux stated in his own police interview that he saw someone in the other person’s car pull out what appeared to be a gun, prompting him to return to his vehicle while they were being pulled over, according to the filing.

They got back on the road before they ran into any traffic. Other vehicles ended up between the cars.

Bergeaux sped up to get to the caller, avoiding traffic. The driver ahead then threw a tire iron at Bergeaux’s truck while he was traveling at around 60 mph, shattering Bergeaux’s windshield.

Both parties told Casper Police officer Steven Jensen, who signed the affidavit, that the caller then led Bergeaux down Wyoming Boulevard before braking — the caller estimated his speed dropped from 100 to 80 mph — and colliding with the back of his truck.

Jensen wrote that after being hit, the reporting party’s truck spun out of control, prompting him to call the police.

Bergeaux admitted that he did not stop and fled the scene, according to the affidavit.

Kiera Hett, spokeswoman for the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed that Bergeaux’s warrant was still active as of Friday afternoon.
