Active Weather Pattern in Alabama: Storms, Severe Risks, and Hot Days Ahead

Central and south Alabama are currently experiencing an active weather pattern, with a series of thunderstorms affecting the area over the weekend and into the beginning of the week. Here’s what you can expect in the coming days:

Saturday Evening:

Saturday afternoon saw a round of storms move across the northeast half of Alabama. A severe thunderstorm watch was issued for these counties, but it expired at 6 PM. By 8 PM, the weather calmed down, leaving most of the area with a partly cloudy to mostly clear sky. The rest of the evening is expected to remain dry.

Sunday Morning and Afternoon:

Late Saturday night into Sunday morning, another round of storms is expected to move into the area. Some of these storms could be severe, bringing the risk of damaging wind gusts and large hail. After this morning activity clears, isolated to scattered showers and storms are likely to develop by Sunday afternoon. These could also become strong, with the potential for damaging winds and hail.

Monday:

The active weather pattern continues on Monday, with another complex of storms possibly sweeping across the region by the afternoon. These storms are also expected to bring mainly damaging winds. A slight (level 2/5) severe risk is in effect for the entire area on Monday, so stay prepared for more storm activity.

Tuesday and Wednesday:

On Tuesday and Wednesday, thunderstorms will continue but will likely be scattered to numerous. However, the rain coverage may start to decrease toward the end of the week.

Next Week’s Outlook:

The rest of the week will be hot and humid, with highs reaching the upper 80s to low 90s each day. Rain chances may decrease later in the week, but the heat will remain.

Expect an active weather weekend with multiple rounds of storms, some of which could be severe. Stay alert for damaging winds, hail, and scattered showers throughout the next few days. After the stormy conditions, it will be hot and humid as we head into next week. Stay safe!
