(Shoshoni, WY) – Cathy Gordon and Mary Weymouth were sentenced to prison and supervised release for various drug-related charges on July 14 at a hearing presided over by the Honorable Judge Alan B. Johnson in Cheyenne.
The charges stemmed from an incident in November 2024, when the pair were discovered in possession of pounds of methamphetamine and marijuana while driving back to Fremont County from Las Vegas.
Gordon was initially charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and marijuana, and carrying a firearm during and in connection with a drug trafficking crime.
She was ultimately sentenced to 60 months in prison and four years of supervised release for counts 1 and 4 (possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime), to be served concurrently.
She was also required to pay a $100 special assessment fee on both counts, as well as $500 in community restitution. The remaining counts were dismissed pursuant to stipulations in a non-public plea agreement filed on March 21.
Weymouth was initially charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and conspiracy to distribute both methamphetamine and marijuana.
She was sentenced to 70 months in prison with 5 years of supervised release for counts 1 and 3 (possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and marijuana), which will be served concurrently.
She was also required to pay a $100 special assessment fee for each count and $500 in community restitution. County 2 was also dismissed, as agreed upon in a separate non-public plea agreement filed on April 18.
Weymouth was being investigated by local law enforcement in October 2024 for “involvement with the distribution of controlled substances in Fremont County,” according to original Riverton Circuit documents filed before the case was upgraded to federal charges.
On October 31, law enforcement contacted Weymouth about purchasing methamphetamine, and she told agents that someone else would call them back.
That same day, agents received a text from “Krystal” (later identified as Gordon), confirming that she could sell a “zip” of methamphetamine for $700.
According to the court documents, on November 11, law enforcement stopped Weymouth and Gordon in Shoshoni (Weymouth was driving) after tracking them down in the Las Vegas area.
After Weymouth was informed of her rights and signed the search consent form, law enforcement searched her vehicle, which included an eight-foot carry-on trailer.
Weymouth told agents she had six pounds of methamphetamine in the front of the trailer, as well as marijuana “that she got from a dumpster.” Both substances later tested presumptively positive.
Meanwhile, court documents revealed that Gordon was in possession of methamphetamine in her purse and suitcase.
She carried 74 grams of methamphetamine in her purse and 151 grams in her suitcase. The suitcase also contained 2.2 pounds of marijuana. Both substances in her possession later tested presumptively positive.
According to court filings, the local charges were eventually dropped on January 24 after the pair was indicted federally, resulting in the July 14 sentences.
