The Alpine Fire Department responded to a call about a collision between a semi truck and a pickup near the Lincoln County line on US 89 in the Snake River Canyon.
The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) sent a road closure notification at 12:44 a.m., and the road was reopened at 3:14 a.m.
“Upon arrival [we] found Star Valley Health assessing two patients, both occupants of the pickup truck,” the AFD stated on their Facebook page.
“The semi had a small fire, which was put out with an extinguisher. One patient was loaded into the SVH ambulance and driven to St. John’s [Health] by an AFD driver.
The other patient was taken to Alpine Air Park, with the AFD providing a driver and assistant in the ambulance for Life Flight transport.”
According to the post, the highway was closed for about three hours while the AFD, SVH, WYDOT, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) worked on the scene.
The WHP is still investigating the incident.
