An 18-year-old Wyoming driver has died after colliding with a bull, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

It occurred around 10:46 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, near mile marker 3 on Wyoming 338, north of Sheridan.

According to a fatality crash summary, a trooper was attempting to place a Black Angus bull in a fenced area when it “entered the roadway, crossed the center line, and entered the southbound lane of travel.”

According to the patrol, Laylie Laumbach, driving a southbound Honda Accord, “was unaware of the bull and collided with it, causing the Honda to leave the roadway to the right, drive through the right-of-way fence, and come to an uncontrolled rest against a tree in a river-bottom.”

Despite wearing a seat belt, Laumbach died in the crash.

Laumbach is the 82nd reported person to die on Wyoming’s highways this year.
