Atlanta, Ga. – Georgia residents and visitors can look forward to mostly sunny skies and warm afternoons through Labor Day weekend. While highs will stay in the mid-80s for metro Atlanta and central Georgia, cooler temperatures in the 70s are expected in the North Georgia mountains.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, isolated thunderstorms may develop each afternoon, particularly in northern parts of the state. These storms are expected to be brief and scattered, with the main threat focused on the mountainous regions.
However, brief downpours or lightning strikes could affect nearby areas during the late afternoon and evening. Forecasters caution that lightning remains a hazard, especially for outdoor activities.
