A tense barricade situation in Grand Rapids came to a peaceful end Wednesday evening after a nearly nine-hour standoff with police.
The incident began around 11 a.m. when officers responded to a report of an assault involving a weapon on Fuller Avenue near Sherman Street. As the investigation unfolded, the suspect barricaded himself inside a residence, prompting a large police response.
Throughout the afternoon, officers made several attempts to convince the suspect to come out voluntarily. By just before 6 p.m., a team of officers entered the home. Then, around 8 p.m., FOX 17 crews witnessed law enforcement escorting a man out of the house in handcuffs. He was later placed in a police cruiser.

Shortly after the arrest, forensic units entered the home to begin processing the scene. As of the latest updates, no injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
