BLM Announces Sale of Wyoming Oil and Gas Leases in September 2025

The Bureau of Land Management Wyoming State Office today announced an oil and gas lease sale scheduled for September 16, 2025, with 37 oil and gas parcels totaling 45,178 acres in Wyoming.

The BLM completed scoping on these parcels in March 2025 and held a public comment period on the parcels and associated environmental analysis, which ended in May 2025.

A 30-day public protest period to gather additional public input began today and will end on August 7, 2025.

Leasing is the first step towards developing federal oil and gas resources. Before development operations can begin, an operator must submit a permit to drill application that details the development plans.

The Bureau of Land Management reviews drilling permit applications, posts them for public review, conducts environmental assessments, and coordinates with state partners and stakeholders.

All parcels included in a federal oil and gas lease sale have appropriate stipulations to protect critical natural resources.

The National Fluid Lease Sale System provides information on current and upcoming BLM leases. BLM lease sales are conducted online through EnergyNet.

The parcels BLM analyzed, as well as maps and instructions on how to submit a protest, are available on BLM’s ePlanning website at: https://eplanning.blm.gov/eplanning-ui/project/2036327/570.
