NEWCASTLE, Wyo. — The Bureau of Land Management recently sold more than 3.4 million board feet of timber rights on two sections of public land in northeast Wyoming to the same company. According to the agency, this generated approximately $218,000 in revenue.
The Stateline timber sale, which opened up large tracts of public land along the Wyoming-South Dakota border, sold approximately 2.4 million board feet to Neiman, a Wyoming timber company. This parcel of land sold for $165,640.
In addition, Neiman purchased approximately one million board feet of timber rights in Crook County’s Goldie Divide. This portion went for $52,780.
According to the prospectuses for each sale, both of these contracts will produce only ponderosa pine boards.
“Timber produced from these sales will provide critical supplies for construction and other industries, and support jobs across local economies,” the Bureau of Land Management announced. “The projects are designed to improve forest health, reduce fuel loads to minimize risk of stand-replacing catastrophic fires, improve firefighter and public safety and improve wildlife habitat and grazing.”
