On August 15, hundreds of California families will receive much-needed financial assistance: a $725 stimulus payment as part of the Family First Economic Support Pilot (FFESP) program.
This pilot program is intended to help low-income households with young children by providing a monthly benefit that aims to provide financial stability to those who need it the most. If you live in Sacramento and want to know if you are eligible or how this program works, we will tell you everything you need to know.
What is the FFESP program?
The FFESP (Family First Economic Support Pilot) is a guaranteed income program that provides $725 per month to select families in Sacramento County, California.
It is a financial assistance program for families with children under the age of five that helps cover essential expenses like food, transportation, utilities, and childcare.
Unlike one-time federal stimulus checks, the FFESP provides a consistent solution over a year, promoting planning and family stability.
Who is eligible and how does the FFESP work?
To qualify for the $725 payment, families must meet the following criteria:
Live in one of the following ZIP codes in Sacramento: 95815, 95821, 95823, 95825, 95828 or 95838.
Have at least one child under the age of 5 who lives with the applicant at least 50% of the time.
Have a family income below 200% of the federal poverty level (e.g., less than approximately $62,400 per year for a family of four).
Not receiving guaranteed income simultaneously from other similar programs.
In some cases, priority was given to African American, Native American or Alaska Native families as part of the program’s equity approach.
As for the selection process, this is done randomly and only a total of 200 families are selected
