CHEYENNE — A 19-year-old man is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of another teen around midnight on Friday at a mobile home park just south of the city.

The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office announced Nathan Pfaff’s murder charge on Monday afternoon. The second person detained at the scene is not a suspect in the shooting.

Pfaff reportedly “had a disagreement” with 18-year-old Ryan Snow, “which may have led to the shooting,” according to the LCSO.

“Sadly, Snow did not survive his injuries,” the report states.

No other information was provided, including how many times Snow was shot or what he and Pfaff may have argued about.

The Call

Deputies responded to a 911 call of someone being hurt at about 12:15 a.m. at the West Winds mobile home park at 505 Williams St., the sheriff’s office reports.

“Deputies arrived to find one person had been shot,” the agency said Friday afternoon. “We are saddened to report that they have succumbed to their injuries.”

For much of Friday, lot 145 of the park, with its yellow ochre single-wide trailer, was surrounded by crime-scene tape. Outside, there were several vehicles and investigators, including a truck from the Laramie County Coroner’s Office.

Increased Presence

There was also an increased presence of law enforcement at the mobile home park on Friday.

Along with multiple investigation-related vehicles parked in front of and around lot 145, three marked sheriff’s office vehicles and uniformed deputies were seen near the mobile home park’s entrance.

Laura Winter, who lives in West Winds one street over, was babysitting a friend’s children in the home directly behind lot 145 overnight and said she heard nothing unusual.

She stated that the mobile home park is generally peaceful. However, with so many people living in close proximity, things can occasionally boil over and everyone can overhear.

However, she stated that this did not occur early Friday — at least not to her knowledge — and that she was surprised to discover the investigation underway when she walked outside.

Everything appeared normal at around 2:15 a.m., she said, “but I just woke up this morning to see all kinds of crime-scene tape all around.”

An arrest affidavit outlining the details of the case against Pfaff has yet to be filed with the Laramie County Circuit Court.

The 19-year-old has had a couple of minor run-ins with the law, court records show.

He has an open case for allegedly exceeding the speed limit by more than 6 mph on May 29. He also received a 30-day suspended jail sentence for underage alcohol possession in June 2024.
