Cheyenne Police say a shooting that killed a 19-year-old man on Saturday may have stemmed from a “road rage” confrontation.
On Monday afternoon, police spokeswoman Alex Farkas provided an update on the investigation into the man’s shooting death near the King Soopers grocery store shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday.
When police responded to a report of shots fired, they discovered the 19-year-old with gunshot wounds. He later died of his injuries.
Another male, who claimed to be the shooter, was detained by police.
Police Think Incident Started With Road Confrontation
According to Farkas, preliminary information indicates that the shooter and the 19-year-old had a dispute earlier in the evening.
According to statements to police, the 19-year-old and three of his friends were traveling in a Chevrolet Cavalier when they apparently got into a roadside incident with the shooter, who was driving a Ford Raptor.
The vehicles pursued each other down Dell Range Boulevard before colliding in the King Soopers parking lot, where the argument erupted, culminating in the shooting.
The alleged shooter and the deceased man are not identified in the release. Farkas says the incident is still being investigated by the CPD Detective Bureau.
The findings of the investigation will be forwarded to the Laramie County District Attorney’s office for potential charges.
