CSSHA News The Cowboy State Stock Horse Association celebrates 20 years as an active club Our association is known for hosting many cow horse and stock horse events in Wyoming year-round.

Upcoming Events
To prepare for our 2023 show season, CSSHA is hosting a Matt Kelly Cow Horse and Reining Clinic on April 29-30, 2023. The location is Thermopolis Wyoming. There are limited spots available for beginners
(mornings) and advanced (afternoon) sessions. One day will be dry work and reining, and one day will be cattle work.

It’s $300/person, and a $100 deposit is required to save your spot. Contact 307-851-3820 or email cowboyssha@gmail.com.

May 19-21: Plans are in the works for a CSSHA Club 20th Anniversary Series Versatility Ranch Horse training show on May 20 & 21. Events include: Ranch Riding, Ranch Trail, Herdwork, Cow Work (Box, Step-up Box, Fence), and Reining.

Classes include: Open, Non-Pro, Jr. Horse, Novice, Youth. In addition, on May 19, Friday evening, we will host a Ranch Team Sorting for fun. A 20th Anniversary BBQ is planned for May 20th.

Location: Fremont County Fairgrounds, Riverton, WY. More details coming soon.

This is planned to be part of the CSSHA 20th Anniversary Club series, with a year-end show in September. Payouts and year-end awards.

July 22-23: Heart Mountain Rendezvous AQHA Ranch Horse Versatility Show.
Location: Cottonwood Arena, Silesia, MT.

CSSHA Winter Jackpots & Shows
CSSHA 2023 Winter Use of Central Wyoming College’s Arena Final Event was held March 4 & 5 Breakaway Ranch Roping: Congratulations to the winners of the CSSHA Winter Breakaway Roping Jackpot held March 5 at Central Wyoming College Equine Center in Riverton. The arena was full both days, and there was a lot of friendly competition. It was a fun weekend, as everyone helped out to improve all of our roping skills. On Saturday, we practiced roping and held a taco bar lunch. On Sunday after practicing, we held the Breakaway from the Herd Roping Jackpot. Winners collected payouts, and the Open and Youth champions won beautiful buckles. As always, we want to thank Rod and Pam Rivers who make sure these winter weekend practices and jackpots happen, and the CWC Equine staff and students who let us use their arena to play. More thanks to Jim Horn, Leane Linnell, and all the
amazing volunteers who pitch in to make these happen.

Thanks to everyone who help at these practices and jackpots. Special thanks to CWC Equine program, students and staff for supporting CSSHA to use their arena this winter.

Club Meetings are usually held on the first Thursday evening of each month in Riverton WY, and a Zoom link is provided to call in for members outside of the area. Sometimes the meeting date changes, so check our Facebook page for the most up-to-date info.

NOTE: April 6 will be our next club meeting starting at 6:30 p.m at The Sundowner Restaurant in Riverton. Come earlier to join us for some social time and have dinner.
