Davenport, Iowa – On Friday evening, a powerful tornado with 120 mph winds struck Scott County, causing significant damage. The tornado traveled a 7.6-mile path from Blue Grass to the west side of Davenport, damaging homes, vehicles, and trees along the way.
The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities reported that the EF-2 tornado touched down at 5:03 p.m. CDT on July 11 and stayed on the ground for about 10 minutes.
Survey teams confirmed the storm uprooted multiple large trees, severely damaged an RV sales business, and affected nearby neighborhoods just north of I-280.
Emergency officials shared that at least 15 RVs were either overturned or destroyed, with some being thrown as far as 15 feet. Areas near Emeis Golf Course and several residential blocks on Davenport’s west side were also impacted by the twister.
Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities have been reported, thanks to timely warnings and effective local preparedness efforts. However, residents in the area are urged to remain vigilant as cleanup continues and additional storms are still possible in eastern Iowa throughout the weekend.
Warnings remain in effect, and more updates are expected through Sunday evening as the situation develops.
